Toyota Race for the Cup

The Best Athletes.
The Top Events.
The Ultimate Challenge.

The Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series 'Race to the Toyota Cup' premieres in 2008 — upping the ante considerably for a race series that already had the eyes of the world upon it. The first-ever of its kind, this series connects the four prominent Olympic-distance races in the United States and introduced the first U.S. Open in the sport.

Life Time Fitness Triathlon® (Minneapolis)
Nautica New York City Triathlon
Accenture Chicago Triathlon®
Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon
Toyota U.S. Open Triathlon (Dallas)

The Series showcases the drama, excitement, and popularity of triathlon, as well as the incredible athleticism of the world's elite professionals as they chase down the title of Series and Toyota Cup champion.

The Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series is not only for the pros but also amateur athletes of all abilities who have a chance at becoming a Toyota Cup champion.

Professionals

Professional triathletes will earn points for each race completed. To be eligible for the Toyota Cup, pros must start all five races. But only the top four results of five races will count toward the overall point total, meaning that one disqualification or DNF won ’t count an athlete out of the Series.

The top male and female point-getters will be the Toyota Cup Champions. Plus, the top three male and top three female pros that meet or exceed 29,000 points will be eligible for first, second and third place Series Points Bonuses. Should an athlete win all five races, he or she will be the Toyota Cup Champion as well as the Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series Champion — winning a Series Super Bonus of $300,000.

Elite Amateurs
The top five men and top five women elite amateur finishers from Minneapolis, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles will qualify for the Elite Amateur Championship in Dallas at the Toyota U.S. Open. At that race, the first-place male and first-place female from the elite wave will be Elite Amateur Toyota Cup Champions.

Age-Group Amateurs
The top 10 men and top 10 women from each Olympic distance age-group in Minneapolis, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles will qualify for the Age-Group Championships at the Toyota U.S. Open in Dallas. The first-place male and first-place female from each age-group will be the Toyota Cup Champions.
